Long simply means buying positions, and short means the otherwise.

So if you buy EURUSD, then you have a long position of EURUSD.

If you sell EURUSD, then you have a short position of EURUSD.

Forex expression “Long” and “Short”

The expression comes from how the market price moves, or that is how traders have seen before.

When a market price goes up, it last longer than when it falls.

As in it is longer for buy positions and shorter for sell positions.

There are many unique expressions used in financial markets though, “Long” and “Short” positions are basic ones.
