Required Documents by CLSA Premium
CLSA Premium New Zealand Limited (previously known as KVB Kunlun) is a reporting entity under the New Zealand Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009.
This means that sometimes CLSA Premium have to request certain information from clients.
The required documents are the followings:
- ID: a certified copy/original of your valid ID. An accepted form of ID can be either: your passport; or your driver’s licence with one of the following documents.
- a document issued by a registered bank that contains the person’s name and signature, for example a credit card, debit card or eftpos card; or
- bank statement issued by a registered bank to the person in the 6 months immediately preceding the date of the of this request; or
- a document issued by a government agency that contains the person’s name and signature, for example a SuperGold Card as defined in the Social Security (SuperGold Card) Regulations 2007;
- a statement issued by a government agency to the person in the 6 months immediately preceding the date of the application, for example a statement from the Inland Revenue Department.
- Proof of Address: a utility bill dated in the 6 months immediately preceding the date of this request.

An accepted form of a utility bill should be linked to a property and cannot include: a mobile phone bill or bank account statement. Alternatively, a council rates letter, a signed rental tenancy agreement
- A prove of tax residency: a letter from the IRD or your local tax department showing your tax number and your name.
You can email the soft copies of the documents requested or via the specified client portal.
You can also provide the certified hard copies of documents, or visit CLSA Premium’s office with originals by appointment.
What happens if you don’t provide these documents?
In the event, CLSA Premium does not receive this updated information from traders, the account opening procedure won’t be completed.
If you are an existing client of CLSA Premium and didn’t submit the required documents upon request within the required period, the legislation requires CLSA Premium to review the relationship with you.
This could include placing a hold on your accounts and/or the closure of your accounts.
What is Certified documents?
Certified means, certified by a person authorized by law in that country to take statutory declarations or equivalent in the customer’s country.
In addition, the trusted referee must not be:
- related to the customer; for example, a trusted referee cannot be their parent, child, brother, sister, aunt, uncle or cousin;
- the spouse or partner of the customer;
- a person who lives at the same address as the customer; and
- a person involved in the transaction or business requiring the certification.
The trusted referee must sight the original documentary identification, and make a statement to the effect that the documents provided are a true copy and represent the identity of the named individual (link to the presenter).
Certification must include the name, signature, and the date of certification.
The trusted referee must specify their capacity to act as a trusted referee.
Certification must have been carried out in the three months preceding the presentation of the copied documents.
