Most FX pairs can be traded 24 hours on weekdays with a five-minute break from 23:59 (server time) until 00:04 (server time); on Friday, trading ceases five minutes earlier, at 23:55 (server time) rather than at 00:00, to prevent wide spreads as liquidity providers go offline at the end of the week.

Server time is set to GMT+3 while US daylight saving is in place, and GMT+2 when the US is not under daylight saving time.

This allows for the daily candle to close at the end of the trading day in New York, as the New York market close is widely considered as the end of the trading day.

Some exceptions to the general rule apply to a few currencies and other assets, which are outlined in the official website.

00:00 XM server time is always equivalent to 5:00pm in New York. Therefore, the trading server time changes following US daylight saving time.

  • When US daylight saving time is active, XM server time is GMT+3
  • When US daylight saving time is not active, XM server time is GMT+2

If you are using an EA with a GMT offset setting, please make sure to set the correct time.

The trading platform time can’t be changed. However some EAs may change the display time in MT4.
