Interview 1 with Mr Hongyan Jin
What inspired you to try Forex trading?
I am a client of the Bank of China’s FX Bao, but I don’t really enjoy it because they don’t provide leverage. Therefore, I use some money to open an account with Tickmill which provides a competitive leverage, very challenging!
How did you learn Forex trading?
The FX channel of the Bank of China provides education for customers, which make me understand forex systematically, from the basic knowledge to the fundamentals and technicals.
What is the biggest challenge in trading you have experienced so far and how did you handle it?
The biggest challenge was the last trade in this live trading contest. I bought JPY near 119 when it rebounded, then set a stop profit and take profit when it was at 119.5. But when I exited the market, JPY fell to 116, too dangerous! If I would not close the position in time, I would lose money, and the championship would be out of reach for me inevitably.
What do you enjoy the most about trading?
USD/JPY and EUR/USD
What do you think are the most important qualities to become a successful trader?
You must set stop profit and stop loss, which are like the accelerator and brake of a car. You should set stop-profit to take profit when you have enough floating profit, and set stop-loss to protect the principal when you have enough floating loss.
Why did you choose to trade with Tickmill?
Tickmill’s MT4 platform is simple and fast. The efficiency of deposit and withdrawal is very high. The English and Chinese customer service are both very responsible.
What do you believe was the key factor in securing the 1st place in the contest?
I enter the market at key levels, then take profit and cut loss timely, earning more than 7 times return.
Which trading strategy do you believe was the most valuable in accumulating the highest percentage of profit?
Probably the stop profit and stop loss, which are both an embodiment of discipline in trading. For example, my stop profit order of shorting euro was triggered at 1.2335. If I didn’t take profit and exit the market, my account would wipe out when the euro returned to 1.25.
What did you enjoy the most about the contest?
Enjoy? What I get is more suffering! The volatility of forex has been making me wander between heaven and hell. I will be quiet only when I seize the opportunity to take profit and don’t take a position. I do enjoy my victory when the principal increased 7 times, but It feels a bit painful during the process of taking a position.
What advice would you give to novice traders?
You must place stop profit and loss orders which will protect your profit and principal respectively.
